Heat Wave – 104 degrees!

Did we mention that LA was having a record heat wave this week? It was 104 degrees each day and would drop to say 90+ degrees later in the afternoon. To beat the heat, we went to Brea – and stopped by a local park in Brea before going to the mall. It was so hot that K couldn’t go on the slides, so after a few minutes we headed to the mall. The most note-worthy aspect of Brea Mall is it’s Thomas the Train store, where we purchased a few items for gifts.

Steve and Katherine were exhausted from the heat and a poor night’s sleep so they collapsed at home for a long nap. After the nap, Steve and I headed to South Coast for my favorite activity in LA – shopping! We managed to hit a couple decent sales and picked up 3T summer clothes for next year and a shirt for work. Fashion Island was our next stop – WOW, what a fancy mall! I was amazed at the prices ($80 for a “juicy” velour jacket) and the lack of sales.

I was somewhat disappointed, but this was a welcome break from Katherine for several hours. Grandma babysat K at home and boy did they stay busy! I remember talking to Steve’s mom on the phone and her saying “Katherine is SUCH a busy girl.” ๐Ÿ™‚

After donning nicer clothes, Steve and I went to Newport and ate at the Charter House. Well, I wouldn’t necessarily go back for Steve’s meal, but mine was pretty decent. And, we had a 23 month old behind us with his parents, so there was plenty of entertainment for the meal. We headed home and again…more bridge!
